New Liebherr 550 Wheeled Loader for Willshee’s.

New Liebherr 550 Wheeled Loader for Willshee’s.

Willshee’s of Burton on Trent – a leading independent waste management company, has recently taken delivery of its fifth Liebherr machine to further increase their waste handling capacity at their Material Handling Facility (MRF).

A family owned and operated company with over 30 years’ experience of waste management, recycling and skip hire, Willshee’s now manages two depots and provides a wide range of sustainable resource management strategies delivering collection, process and recovery.

Willshee’s is focused on a strategy of zero landfill and can now recycle almost all wastes including wood, cardboard, paper, metal, glass, plastic, plasterboard and aggregates.

The first Liebherr machine the company invested in was a Liebherr 550 Wheel Loader and over the last six years the fleet has grown to 5 machines, with the latest acquisitions being a Liebherr LH22 Material Handler and a second Liebherr 550 Wheeled Loader which has replaced the original machine.

Dean Willshee – MD – Willshee’s, commented, “it’s been a great relationship since our first meeting at the RWM show. We had a long discussion and I found their customer service very impressive. Following a subsequent machine demonstration we made our first investment in a Liebherr 550.”

This was swiftly followed by a second purchase of an R 924 and then in January 2014 an R 904 Material Handler. An LH 26 followed in January 2015 which is currently employed on wood sorting.

Dean commented, “our relationship has been excellent, we are very pleased with all the machines. There has been very little downtime and when we have had a breakdown the response has been swift and efficient. The machines are a quality build, very economical and the resale value is good so it’s a ‘no brainer’ really!”

Having a fleet of Liebherr machines has also made total sense for Willshee’s as there are a lot of standard parts which fit most of the machines; consequently a smaller stock of parts is required on-site.

The fleet of Liebherr machines are also popular with the drivers at the two depots.

Dean further commented, “All our drivers love the machines, they are very high specification with cameras all around, completely effortless to drive, so a total pleasure!

“It’s been a total success story from day one with a solid relationship that ensures the business moves forward on a daily basis.”

L550 Wheel Loader

The new Stage IIIB/Tier 4i Wheel Loader L 550 leads the field when it comes to economy and environmental friendliness; using up to 25 per cent less fuel than comparable machines from other manufacturers, under the same operating conditions.

Up to 8 per cent of this fuel advantage is achieved thanks to the new “Liebherr Power Efficiency” (LPE) system.

By intelligent management of the individual units, LPE reduces both fuel consumption and component wear, with the engine management under pro-active control and with all the engine map characteristics and parameters being taken into account.

LPE also recognizes the performance profile required by the operator, and puts the machine into maximum performance output, in the most efficient way possible.

With the tried and trusted Liebherr travel drive, tyre wear is, as usual, reduced by up to 25 per cent, with the service brake practically free of wear altogether.

The L550 offers first-class comfort and convenience and a spacious and comfortable cab with operating elements that are ergonomically matched to one another. With the hydraulic cab bearing system substantially reducing vibrations and noise burden in the interior of the cab increased productivity is ensured.
