New factory-installed SVAB/Steelwrist options for Doosan Wheeled Excavator range

Doosan has launched new factory-installed SVAB/Steelwrist options for the Doosan wheeled excavator range through Doosan Smart Solutions. Doosan is introducing the following factory-fitted options and attachments from SVAB/Steelwrist for the company’s DX140W-5, DX160W-5, DX165W-5 and DX170W-5 wheeled excavators:

The SVAB/Steelwrist installation on the four wheeled excavator models enhances field support for Doosan dealers and customers, providing a complete CE-marked excavator that fully meets the customer’s requirements, saving on the time and costs required for installation normally carried out at the dealer’s facilities, with the additional advantage of integrated machine control systems for 3D work.

Tiltrotators are an increasingly popular attachment for excavators. Although the tiltrotator was first invented in the late 1980s, the technical development pace is still extremely high today. The market penetration varies a lot between the most advanced markets where above 90 per cent of excavators between 3 and 30 t have a tiltrotator, to start-up markets where only the true first movers looking for increased efficiency are active.

Experienced operators estimate the productivity improvement to be between 20 and 35 per cent, depending on the type of job involved. Existing jobs can be done faster; new types of work can be undertaken with the tiltrotator in place and there is less need for support staff on the ground.

The 14 tonne DX140W-5 and 16 tonne DX160W-5 wheeled excavators provide significantly higher performance in every area than the previous generation machines. Both models have the same 6-cylinder Doosan engine and power outputs as the previous machines, but have 5 per cent more traction force, ensuring superior performance compared to both of the previous generation machines. Another important aspect in all the wheeled excavators is the ‘CabSus’ cab suspension system which reduces vibration and provides a 1 dBA reduction in cab noise, further increasing safety and comfort for the operator.

At the heart of the DX140W-5 and DX160W-5 excavators is the well-proven turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine meeting Stage IV emission regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The DL06P engine provides power outputs of 102.2 kW (137 HP) and 113.3 kW (152 HP) at 2000 rpm, respectively, in the DX140W-5 and DX160W-5 excavators.

Extra Compactness with Incredible Stability
The 16.5 tonne DX165W-5 Stage IV compliant wheeled excavator from Doosan is a short tail machine that is perfect for jobs in tight spaces, particularly in urban areas or on narrow roads with heavy traffic. Tailored to meet specific customer demands, the new DX165W-5 has been designed to ensure it offers the same high performance as the market-leading conventional Doosan wheeled excavator models.

The DX165W-5 is built with the same undercarriage as the Doosan DX160W-5 Stage IV model, providing an optimal centre of gravity thanks to the long wheel base and the ideal weight distribution. The DX165W-5 also features a new generation of heavy duty ZF axles offering the best possible dynamic and static axle load. From the standpoint of performance, the DX165W-5 has the same forces and lifting capacities depending on the application as the DX160W-5 model. The DX165W-5 can therefore lift 5.87 t at 4.5 m reach over the front (at 3 m high) and 4.28 t over the side. This is a better performance than any other short tail wheeled excavator in its class.

The 17 tonne DX170W-5 Stage IV compliant wheeled excavator provides high performance in every area, combining enhanced comfort and controllability together with new features to boost fuel efficiency, uptime and return on investment, with a focus on increased power, robustness and agility.

From the standpoint of performance, the DX170W-5 has 10 per cent more engine power, 5 per cent more engine torque and 5 per cent more traction force compared to the previous generation model. The swing speed can now reach 10.8 rpm/minute and swing torque has been increased by 4 per cent.  Main pump capacity has increased by 9 per cent and thanks to the increased pressure in the new Negacon hydraulic system, there is a significant increase of 10 per cent in the bucket force and 3 per cent in the arm force.
