A look back: 2019 at Wacker Neuson in the UK

An exciting Bauma year is coming to a close for Wacker Neuson. In addition to the worlds largest construction machine trade fair, new developments within the range of zero emissions, innovative product highlights as well as digital solutions were the focus this year.

The year 2019 was also marked by customer orientation at Wacker Neuson, because the consistent alignment with customer needs is the focus of the group’s strategy.

Innovative with a View to the Future
Wacker Neuson involves its customers in the design and development of a new product so that it can offer customers innovative solutions that make their everyday life noticeably easier: Construction companies, dealers, rental companies and end users are regularly invited to participate in so-called “Voice-of-Customer” events. At these events, customers can provide feedback about products in the development stage. In this way, customer knowledge and practical experience is incorporated into the development process and the products are consistently aligned with customer needs. This is also how the Dual View dumpers came about, which were introduced in 2019. The DV60, DV90 and DV100 models with six to ten metric tons of payload set new standards for an unobstructed view in any situation, because the entire seat and control panel can be rotated 180 degrees to determine the direction of viewing and travel. This means the operator retains an unrestricted view of his working environment in any situation.

Emission-free urban construction sites
The Wacker Neuson zero emission family expanded further in 2019. Wacker Neuson is thereby expanding its innovation leadership within the range of alternative drives. The battery-powered internal vibrator system from Wacker Neuson introduced at Bauma for the first time is one of the new additions within the range of zero emissions. The battery converter backpack makes it possible to work without power cables, which results in new freedom of movement for the end user and a high level of operating comfort during concrete consolidation. The powerful lithium ion battery provides power for a whole workday. In addition, the electric wheel dumper DW15e with a payload of 1.5 metric tons as well as the battery-powered vibratory plate AP2650e and the battery-powered rammer AS60e have been part of the emission-free construction machines and equipment since 2019. The market launch of the fully electric 1.5 metric tonne excavator EZ17e is currently being prepared – the excavator will be available in spring 2020. This broad product portfolio can be used to operate an entire urban construction site completely free of exhaust emissions – all with very low noise level.

Trade fair highlight 2019: Bauma
2019 was an exciting trade fair year – Bauma took place in April with 620,000 visitors. The Kramer and Wacker Neuson brands presented together in an area of 6,000 square metres. The new products from the zero emission series, which were at the centre of the trade fair appearance under the motto #electrifiedbauma, especially provided for an electrifying experience, but many thousands of visitors were also delighted by the Ferris wheel at the trade fair stand. Digital topics, such as the telematics solution EquipCare, were also focused on.

2019 at Wacker Neuson in the UK
Wacker Neuson already participated in the Plantworx trade fair in Peterborough UK for the fourth time. The electric wheel loader DW15e as well as the Dual View dumper were the focus here, both of which received the Plantworx Innovation Award. The electric wheel dumper DW15e is suitable for material transport wherever work needs to be done without emissions and as quietly as possible. The DW15e dumper is equipped with its own electric motor for the drive system and the work hydraulics respectively, to reduce the power as needed and independently as well as to minimise energy consumption.

The new Dual View dumpers not only convinced the Plantworx Innovation Awards jury: After the dumper’s market launch, Wacker Neuson consistently received positive feedback from customers in the UK: Advantages mentioned that increase the level of safety on the construction site were above all the simple and intuitive operation, the compact design and the unobstructed line-of-sight. “We are delighted by the response from our customers”, says Richard Harrison, managing director of Wacker Neuson UK. “This confirms to us that with this product we are making the everyday work of our customers easier and offers a real added value”.
