Manitou | About the size of it

Manitou’s 7m and 9m compact telehandlers are the perfect partner in a tight spot.

Building contractors are demanding ever more compact machines without compromising lift height and capacity. Manitou has responded to this need with its new MT 730 and MT 930 models to provide up to 9m lift height in a machine less than 2m wide and 2m high – small enough to fit through a typical domestic size garage door.

The MT 730 H, MT 930 H have maximum lift capacity of 3 tonnes and can reach 7m and 9m respectively. The MT 930 HA model has the added benefit of being able to carry a man platform making it truly versatile. All models feature a new floating fork carriage that folds back the forks during transit reducing the length to just 4.67m for transport. With the launch of two new attachments a new 2m narrow bucket dedicated to heavy bulk, or folding forks, you now have a powerful piece of equipment intended for the most confined spaces.

A powerful 75hp Kubota Stage V engine, 25kph hydrostatic transmission, best in class 34.5cm ground clearance, and a 3.33m turning radius ensure these machines can handle any terrain and the tightest of spaces. As usual, there are three steering modes: 4-wheel steer, 2-wheel steer and crab mode. The simple Harmony screen provides the operator with real-time information, and will be familiar to operators who use the MT 1440 model. This user-friendly dashboard is simple to understand and ensures the operator’s safety.

Enhanced safety
To prevent unintentional machine movement, the standard JSM now detects the operator’s hand when performing hydraulic motions. These three telehandlers can be optionally equipped with Manitou’s new Safety Pack to increase safety awareness on busy sites. It warns on-site teams and feeds data back to the fleet manager. Any inappropriate behavior is identified by sensors activating two flashing lights inside and outside the cab, such as movement of the machine with the boom raised, the seat belt not being fastened, temporary activation of movement cut-off, etc.

Another optional feature, a reversing aid, alerts the operator if someone is behind the telehandler, giving the operator complete peace of mind while operating. Because there is no step, access to the cab is optimised for risk-free entry and exit. A new boom with internal components offers greater visibility for enhanced safety during loading and unloading. An automatic parking brake with hill-start assist also helps to reduce the risk of accidents.

Low TCOs
Manitou Group prioritises lowering Total Cost of Ownership across the board. Users of this new range can now analyse their hydraulic oil to identify when it needs to be changed. Situated under the boom, there are two access points for easily collecting oil samples, making it an easy and clean solution.

A machine can be sitting idle up to 45 per cent of the time However, Manitou Group’s new optional Stop & Start solution automatically cuts out the engine when idling. It can be configured from 1 minute to 30 minutes and restarts the engine when the accelerator pedal is pressed or via movement of the JSM joystick. The fuel savings, wear on components and the noise reductions are particularly significant. Reducing potential idle time has the potential to prolong the requirement for a DPF regeneration, resulting in less down time on site.
