Nixon Hire invests in emission-free lighting towers

Nixon Hire, one of the UK’s leading providers of plant and tool hire, site accommodation, welfare vans and portable toilet hire, has invested in a fleet of emission, and noise-free lighting towers supplied by the MHM Group.

The ST-9 is a solar/battery, diesel-free, site lighting tower that operates from a combination of an AGM sealed lead acid self-charging battery, and four LG360 solar panels. Illumination is via a bank of energy-saving LED lamps fitted to a nine-metre mast. To ensure that the lights are only operating when necessary, the ST-9 is equipped with a ‘Dusk ‘til Dawn Auto Start/Stop Sensor’. The unit works completely silently making it ideally suited for use in noise sensitive areas. The ST-9 delivers an impressive 2,400m2 of light coverage, and requires minimal routine maintenance.

The ST-9 is manufactured at the MHM Group’s facilities based near Milan, in Italy.

Commenting on this latest investment in sustainable equipment, Nick Hibbard, UK Division Manager (Renewables) at Nixon Hire said, “The ST-9 is the latest sustainable product to be added to our hire-fleet. With our drive towards championing zero emission equipment, this lighting set will complement all of our current battery, hybrid and solar powered machinery.”

Founded in 1967, Nixon Hire is a family-run business employing almost 500 people across an expanding depot network. The company supplies a wide range of equipment throughout the UK. Their customer base includes: agriculture, events, housing, construction, rail, highway and utility contractors.

The MHM Group was incorporated in 2010 and supplies their range of equipment throughout the UK and Ireland via its’ nationwide three depot network. The company has three distinct divisions; MHM New Equipment Sales, MHM Used Equipment Sales and MHM Rehire. The MHM Rehire division is only available to UK and Ireland hire firms. Each division supplies power generation, solar-hybrid-generators, fluid storage, lighting towers, and product related accessories to the UK and Irish rental markets. The MHM Group head office is based in Port Talbot, South Wales.
