The Sirius Group welcomes the world’s first electric dozer

Nationwide consulting and contracting company The Sirius Group has added eight new machines to its Cat® fleet of 20, including the world’s first electric drive dozer. Exclusive distributor of Cat products and machines, Finning UK and Ireland, dispatched this fleet to The Sirius Group’s various sites, putting the company at the forefront of the industry’s move to more efficient and sustainable operations.

The Sirius Group is committed to reducing emissions and its environmental impact, so the D6 XE electric drive dozer was the only machine to fit the bill. Its levels of torque and traction control enrich its manoeuvrability and precision, allowing it to operate at a 35 per cent better energy efficiency rating.

“The Sirius Group has built a working relationship with Finning over the last 15 years and, in this time, it has gone from strength to strength,” commented Stuart Kirk, plant director for The Sirius Group. “With service contracts and extended warranties provided by Finning, we have peace of mind that all our machines are well maintained by Finning UK and Ireland’s talented engineers, who carry out repairs and upkeep in an efficient and speedy manner.

“When purchasing a Cat machine, you can be sure that you’re making a sound investment with quality and durability guaranteed. Precision and continuity throughout operations is extremely important to our customers, and the fact that this range is built to have the smallest impact on the environment as possible is another bonus. After all, employing more sustainable technology is the future and we want to be a part of that,” Kirk continued.

Recent additions to The Sirius Group’s fleet include a Cat Next Gen D5 Dozer, specially designed to improve productivity and reduce undercarriage wear for low operating costs. The 323 and 330 excavators, although not electric, are equipped to run on B20 biodiesel — a more environmentally-friendly alternative for fuel-saving flexibility. The entire Sirius fleet meets the EU Stage IV emission standards and includes a new 563 roller and a 308 mini-excavator.

The Sirius Group was founded in 2003 as an integrated Geotechnical & Environmental Consultancy and Land Remediation Contractor. They have evolved and diversified over the years responding to clients’ needs and now provide a wide range of services to the built environment. From planning and geotechnical consultancy, Sirius expertise also extends to demolition, remediation, drilling and civil engineering projects – and their renewable energy assets provide green power to industry across the UK. The company’s proactive, eco-friendly approach and diverse variety of machinery has built it an exemplary track record, allowing the team to meet each individual customer’s requirement with elegance and efficiency.
