Excavator raffle raises over £20,000 for children’s charity

Derby-based Bobcat dealer, Butler Reynolds Ltd, has announced that the winner of the company’s charity raffle for a Bobcat E10z 1 tonne mini-excavator is Chris O’Hara of Trent Bridge Construction Ltd in Nottingham.

At the draw, Butler Reynolds also confirmed the company beat its target of raising £20,000 for the beneficiary charity, When You Wish Upon a Star, also based in Nottingham, and thanked everybody who took part in the raffle.

With a very successful civil engineering and construction business based in Nottingham, Chris O’Hara has been trading in the Midlands area for over 25 years. After hearing about the Butler Reynolds raffle and the When You Wish Upon a Star charity involved, Chris quickly made contact with Nigel Long, one of the Directors at Butler Reynolds to purchase some tickets and to help to support them.

He was really surprised to be the lucky winner of the new Bobcat E10z and commented: “It’s really good timing that I have won this as I have quite a lot of work coming up for this machine.”

Chris has used Bobcat mini-excavators for at least 20 years now and added: “I feel great to be the lucky winner – I have always found the Bobcat products to be a great asset to my business.”

Chris very generously stated that he would like to add another £1000 to the charity fund.

Butler Reynolds Beats Donation Target
Nigel Long said: “As we said before the raffle took place, the Wishes charity was one that my fellow Director, Heather Tormey and I had been aware of for some time now. Both Heather and I were really pleased to hand over a cheque for £20,400 to Alexa Wigfield, Regional Fundraiser at When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Heather Tormey commented: “We were really pleased to have raised so much for the charity and we are so grateful to everyone who purchased tickets, then for Chris to add another £1000 to the fund is fantastic.”

Butler Reynolds also confirmed the five winners of the second prizes of Bobcat jackets: Wayne Smith – Derbyshire Diggers; James Bruton – J E Builders; Dave Moore – Richmond; Tony Hall – Pegasus and Jordan Darrall – JD Contractors. Due to the high level of entries, Butler Reynolds also increased to 15 the number of third place prizes of Bobcat scale models.

The When You Wish Upon a Star charity
Alexa Wigfield added: “Congratulations to Butler Reynolds on running a brilliant event and to the winner, Chris O’Hara and all the winners of the runners-up prizes. Thanks to everybody who entered the raffle – to receive these donations from Butler Reynolds and Chris will help us to continue granting magical Wishes. All children have Wishes but for these children and their families that Wish is so precious. Each Wish brings with it the opportunity to look forward to something very special, to forget about their often painful treatments and to simply be a child for the day, creating special treasured memories.”

The When You Wish Upon a Star charity was founded in Nottingham by Barbara White, who was so inspired by a seriously ill four-year-old child with a dream to meet Mickey Mouse, that she wanted to bring smiles to the faces of many more brave and courageous children. The Wishes created by the charity have the power to transform the lives of the children and families they work with and since 1990, the charity has proudly granted over 17,500 Wishes across the UK.
