Hiboo provides a new key metric to reduce construction sites’ carbon footprint

Experts in construction equipment data Hiboo now enables companies to calculate their carbon impact.

Thanks to Hiboo’s solution, equipment users and renters are now able to collect and measure the CO e (the CO equivalent) emissions related to the fuel consumption of each equipment. This unit, created by the IPCC, takes into several greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), me- thane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). The different emissions factors taken into account show that 1 liter of diesel fuel emits 3 kilograms of CO2e. This measurement therefore makes it possible to calculate emissions over the whole life cycle of a project.

Given the increasingly demanding requirements of their customers and shareholders in regards to climate action, access to this new key metric gives those involved in the construction industry the means to take concrete action to reduce the environmental impact of their equipment and fleets of machinery.

“Reducing the carbon footprint in the construction industry is a vital issue, to which we must respond collectively. By means of this new data type, we are delighted to be able to help our customers measure their emissions and reach their goals in terms of carbon impact,” says Clément BÉNARD, CEO and co-founder of Hiboo.
