Isuzu’s 1,000th Driveaway truck starts work at Carrier Landscapes

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu Truck UK has just delivered its 1,000th Driveaway pre-bodied vehicle to East Midlands company Carrier Landscapes. This milestone 3.5 tonne Isuzu means that the Melton Mowbray based business now runs 45 Isuzu trucks in its 80-strong commercial vehicle fleet.

Since they were first launched, Isuzu’s Driveaway range of pre-bodied trucks now cover models from 3.5 tonne to 7.5 tonne GVW and commenting on reaching the 1000th Driveaway landmark, Richard Waterworth, head of sales at Isuzu Truck UK said, “It is fitting that such a devotee of the Isuzu brand, Carrier Landscapes, are the recipients of this special milestone vehicle as they have been a long-term supporter of Isuzu for many years. Our Driveaway programme has proved to be incredibly popular with our customers and by consistently adding new models to the range, we now have a comprehensive selection of the most sought-after vehicle specifications in various GVW categories. This enables our customers to reduce the lead time and costs for fleet replacements and additions.”

Carrier Landscapes predominantly run 3.5 tonne Isuzu Grafter rigids within its fleet, and the milestone Isuzu is one of the new Grafter Green N35.125 models specified with a Driveaway dropside body. Carrier Landscapes also run four Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigids as well as its Isuzu Grafters.

This latest 19-plate Grafter Green was supplied to Carrier Landscapes by local Isuzu Truck dealer t.i.m. Commercials Ltd and will operate in their fleet for a minimum six-year period.

“It is fair to say that all our Isuzus have been largely trouble-free, which is why they are the largest single manufacturer represented in our fleet. We have found that they are robust and reliable with an excellent payload. This ticks all the boxes for us,” said Duncan Carrier, managing director, Carrier Landscapes.

Duncan continues, “We operate two-man teams with each vehicle and use the Isuzu trucks to carry equipment out to sites predominantly throughout the East Midlands. We also find that they are excellent vehicles for towing plant and equipment trailers.”

Established 30 years ago and based in Melton Mowbray, Carrier Landscapes now employs 120 people and runs 80 commercial vehicles, providing landscaping services predominately for new buildings and housing throughout the East Midlands. The company also operates its own nursery that is connected to the main family business.
