Speedy makes £1.5m investment in new hoisting division and lifting products

Speedy, the UK’s leading tools, equipment and plant hire services company, has made an initial £1.5M investment to launch a new specialist hoisting division.

Its first dedicated hoisting depot is based at a new 52,000 sq ft hub in Birmingham that will provide customers with access to the UK’s largest range of GEDA hoisting equipment to hire on a nationwide basis, offering working load ranges of 200kg to 2 tonnes.

Speedy says they currently have more than 25 trained hoist engineers across its network and are looking at growing the team over the coming months. The network will offer customers an expert route to hiring the equipment they need to safely hoist building materials and passengers across many different applications on their often complex projects.

The launch in Birmingham will be followed by eight additional specialist hoist centres, which are set to open in 2021.

The move comes as the business invests significantly in a wide range of lifting equipment across its 54 specialist service centres in the UK, enabling their customers to access the right piece of lifting equipment when required.

Speedy is also rolling out 18 specialist heavy lifting locations, which include those already operating in Rosyth and Ellesmere Port. The new heavy lifting structure will give its customers easy access to the UK’s most comprehensive range of heavy lifting products supported by the firm’s engineers offering site surveys to ensure safety and compliance.

Adrian Bolland, Head of Category at Speedy, will lead the new hoist division with 14 years’ experience in providing a first class service to customers across the UK with lifting and hoisting equipment.

Lisa Blake, Category Director at Speedy Services, said: “We’re always looking for new opportunities to improve our product and service offering. This significant investment simplifies and improves the age profile our fleet, enabling us to offer a consistent service nationwide. The investment also marks a significant step forward in ensuring we are the first choice for businesses that need hoisting and lifting equipment to deliver safe and successful projects.

“Our new hoist division will meet a sharp growth in demand across the UK and offers the largest and most comprehensive product range available for nationwide delivery and installation. Coupled with the unrivalled expertise and experience of Adrian and his team, this is a compelling offering that demonstrates our commitment to provide the industry’s best hire services to customers of all sizes.
