Galileo Wheel Ltd. presents new airless tyres for OTR applications

The CupWheel tyre technology from Galileo Wheel Ltd. has been available for order since September. Now the Israeli company is already presenting its latest innovation: an airless solution tyre for agricultural, forestry and construction machinery that uses solid rubber tyres, rubber tracks and other solutions.

The new development offers all the advantages of both solid rubber and pneumatic tyres but functions completely without air. Galileo Wheel will be presenting both their CupWheel tyres and the new airless tyres at Agritechnica, the world’s largest agricultural technology trade fair, in Hanover.

The new tyre has been designed so that it can be used as an airless tyre at all times. Not only is it immune to damage and maintenance-free, it also has all the other advantages of CupWheel technology, including longer tyre contact patch, increased traction, better lateral stability, self-cleaning and improved driving comfort. In addition, machines with the tyre can be driven on the road. It is compatible with standard rims and can be produced in normal tyre production lines. The CupWheel technology can also be used in difficult terrain and more arduous everyday situations. The airless technological solution will be available to see at Agritechnica, 2019.

“Many OEMs and aftermarket representatives contacted us in the past,” says Alon Hayka, CEO of Galileo Wheel. “They agreed: the solid rubber tyres used today have many disadvantages – they are expensive and terribly uncomfortable to drive. They also require a special rim, have size limitations and excessive energy consumption, which ultimately affects the life of the machine,” says Hayka. The new airless solution provides better load distribution, less soil compaction and better control – even on slopes or uneven ground. The tyres are also more efficient in terms of driving performance and fuel consumption.

“Our airless solution is significantly less expensive, offering all the benefits that machine operators in agriculture, forestry and construction need,” says Andrew Mabin, Director of OE Sales and Marketing at Galileo Wheel. “As I have been in the business for quite some time, I know how much this solution is needed. This tire has both performance and price advantages, that makes it a real winner”.
