A leading construction company is charging ahead with plans for an electric equipment fleet.
Isle of Wight-based MCM Construction has bought three new electric JCB machines – adding to a three-strong existing electric JCB fleet.
The new JCB 19C-1E mini excavator, 1TE site dumper and 525-60E Loadall models join a further Loadall, electric Dumpster and power pack for quick charging the machines. They will be used on school, hospital and prison projects on the island.
Supplied by dealer Greenshields JCB, this new JCB fleet gives MCM Construction fully electric operation with zero emissions at the point of use, comparable performance to diesel counterparts and considerably quieter machines. Each can deliver full day’s typical operation on a single charge.
MCM Construction Director, Brendan McMahon said: “We’ve used JCB equipment for years and always had good service so turned to them again for this purchase. As a company, we need to look towards the future and electric is the way to go. We already have a number of JCB electric machines and are investing in electric hand tools too. We have bought the electric variant of every machine JCB offers, and the machines have proven perfect for our projects in sensitive areas.
“The machines are performing very well – we’re extremely pleased. Our operators are over the moon with them. The battery life is excellent. We recently used the 19C-1E for a full shift breaking out concrete and there was still charge left at the end of the day which is amazing.”
Established in 1994, MCM Construction is the largest building company on the Isle of Wight. The company began in civil engineering and has since evolved into the construction sector. The new electric machines join an impressive fleet of JCB machinery including a JCB 6T-2 Dumper, JCB telehandler, 220X and 140XLC tracked excavator models.
