Yorkshire-based Calder Valley Skip Hire has taken delivery of eight Hyva skiploaders as part of the ongoing expansion and development of its waste management and recycling operations.
The order comprises five 18-tonne and three 12-tonne gross vehicle weight trucks, all of which are based on DAF 4×2 chassis and are now operating out of Calder Valley Skip Hire’s Belmont Recycling Centre, Sowerby Bridge.
“These are the first Hyva vehicles to join our fleet and we are extremely pleased with them,” reports Calder Valley Skip Hire Managing Director Joe Sawrij. “We chose Hyva as we believe they are simply the best in the market – we spoke to many people before making our decision and they all pointed us towards Hyva. In operation, we are finding them to be easy-to-use, robust and more than up to the job. The handover training provided by Hyva was thorough, and our operators were quickly familiarised with the controls. Aftercare is an important part of the equation for any waste management operator, and here HyvaCare provides a responsive service which gives us the support we need to keep our vehicles out on the road earning their keep.”
The five 18-tonne skiploaders are fitted with Hyva 2012XL equipment and the three 12-tonners with Hyva 2008TA. These are both extendable arm models, with a lifting capacity of 12-tonnes (closed) to 8-tonnes (extended) in the case of the 2012XL, and 8.5-tonnes to 4.5-tonnes for the 2008TA.
As a further aid to safety and efficiency in operation, all Hyva skiploaders are supplied with Hyva’s TRR ‘Handy’ full remote control system. This features a hand-held remote control module, little bigger than a TV remote, from which all skiploader operations can be performed by the driver standing away from the vehicle.
Calder Valley Skip Hire was started in 1999 by Joe Sawrij’s father Peter and his colleague Jim Moore as a one skiploader operation. Now serving a wide range of construction, demolition, industrial and household customers, the company has enjoyed sustained success and grown to its current size of 14 vehicles and 35 staff. Based on a 6.5-acre site in Rochdale Road, Sowerby Bridge, the company provides a comprehensive waste management service, including the recycling of 85 percent of all material taken into its on-site recycling centre.
