P. Flannery Plant Hire Ltd is enjoying recognition for its 2018 efforts and looking forward to building on this recognition as quarter two ramps up in 2019.
Ending 2018 with significant investment into hybrid technology and the Dual-View dumper from Wacker Neuson rounded off a very successful year for Flannery Plant Hire. Flannery Managing Director, Patrick Flannery, Managing Director said: “As a team it is easy to focus on the investment made in plant and equipment, what our first foray into awards has demonstrated is that we also have lots to be proud of when it comes to people and process.”
The companies first win came at the West London Business Awards in February where Flannery Plant Hire were named Financial Growth Corporate of the Year at the West London Business Awards 2019. Judges commented “Investment and innovation delivers impressive growth in a competitive market and this family run company has continued to perform in a market often challenging. They were an early adopter of new technologies such as hybrid excavators and of safety features such as 360° cameras. They are living wage accredited and investing strongly in apprenticeships.”
At the end of March Flannery Plant Hire were in attendance at the 2019 Construction News Specialists Awards and won the Equipment Specialist of the Year category. Judges commented “The company has a massive focus on people, training, mental health and CSR that sets it apart as a business.”
The following night company received recognition from one of its biggest clients, winning the Leading Behaviour Change for Safety (Supply Chain) in the Safety Award category at the 2019 Highways England Awards. Patrick said “We feel incredibly proud to work on a number of Highways England projects and I am so pleased that our training departments hard work has been recognised. It is extremely important that as part of the supply chain we find new ways to better train and engage with our operators so that they are not just efficient but most importantly safe on site.”
Jim O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of Highways England said: “The people in our industry work hard to provide the roads that people most need. We face tough safety and cost challenges every day doing just that. These awards are our opportunity to take a step back from the action and recognise a few of the best things our people and suppliers have done this year and say ‘thank you’. The whole roads sector sometimes get taken for granted and these awards go some small way to putting that right.”
The fourth win came at the Building Equality Awards for the company’s efforts towards creating a more inclusive industry. Flannery Plant Hire collected the Sponsor/Supporter of the year award while operator Mick Wilson received an Outstanding Contribution award for driving the Flannery #buildingequality JCB backhoe loader at a number of key events, including both Manchester and London Pride in 2018.
Patrick concludes “Awards provide us with a great opportunity, not just to showcase our business but also give us the chance to reflect on all the hard work that goes into making Flannery Plant Hire what it is today. It is testament to all the great people we have here and their passion for this industry that we have received such recognition. Our focus now is on building on these foundations through what looks to be another busy summer for us. As always we will look to innovate and think a little differently to deliver our customers the very best.”
