Bobcat’s electric compact telehandler

Bobcat’s electric compact telehandler

On one of CPN’s recent trips we got to see the latest iteration of Bobcat’s TL25.60 – an electric version of the compact telehandler that is coming down the tracks.

Bobcat used the recent Intermat exhibition and its own Demo Days 2024 to showcase its TL25.60e electric telehandler concept. The model, which is still in development and not yet commercially available, has a rated capacity of 2.5 tonnes and a lifting height of almost 6m, very much matching the performance offered by its diesel-powered equivalent.

Powered by liquid-cooled batteries, the zero-emission machine demonstrates that it is possible to achieve genuinely sustainable operations without compromising performance, says Bobcat. With three separated electric motors designed to maximize efficiency, a hydrostatic transmission to boost performance, a maximum speed of 25 km/h and the same super-compact dimensions as the conventional Bobcat TL25.60, the electric concept machine delivers low noise levels, minimal operating costs and impressive versatility, according to the manufacturer.

The TL25.60e electric telehandler is designed for simplicity of use, excellent stability, optimum comfort and safe operation in any type of application. The machine has a rated operating capacity of 2500 kg, offers a maximum lift height of 5.9 m and a maximum reach of 3.3 m. The Bob-Tach carriage (manual or hydraulic) increases versatility by allowing the TL25.60e to utilise attachments designed for the Bobcat loader range.

Together with the new dashboard design in the cab and strong but slim cabin pillars, this provides excellent unobstructed visibility for the operator. Combined with the best turning radius on the market, this allows the operator to move around the job site with ease and to minimise accidents or mistakes.

The TL25.60e has an extra tough design with a robust frame and boom for working in every possible environment. The shielded design provides protection for all components and a steel plate protects the base of the machine. Like all Bobcat telehandlers, the TL25.60e has a box section layout and significant ground clearance for peace of mind.

Serge Boyer, product manager for telehandlers, sees a bright future for the electric version: “Just like its diesel-powered counterpart, the Bobcat TL25.60e has been built with versatility at its core. Thanks to its compact footprint, low noise levels and zero-emission operations, this concept telehandler is suitable for a diverse range of applications, including work on confined job sites and in city centres.”

The super compact TL25.60 telehandler, in both its diesel and electric forms, is the smallest machine in the Bobcat range of 13 rigid frame telehandlers for construction, rental and general handling.
