CPN brings you a sneak preview of a new grader ahead of its debut at Bauma next year.
Designed to operate in the 75 – 90hp range, the new SharpGrade G-109 claims to deliver on performance and practicality. Without leaving the cab the operator can now hydraulically raise and lower the entire front wheel assembly with the click of a button and, being able to grade as close as 11in to curbs and foundations, greatly reduces the amount of hand finishing work when operating in this space. What this means for the operator is that this machine is suitable for foundation, curb and sidewalk prep, arenas, and landscaping. With an extensive range of motion with the blade capable of working as wide as 109in or as little as 66in you get the performance of a much larger grader blade with the ability to also work in very compact spaces, and like the rest of the SharpGrade GSeries range the new G-109 can grade to within 1/8in both forwards and in reverse.
The G-109 is no lightweight, weighing in at 2,700lb these attachments have been designed for hard work, and are built to last. Featuring SharpGrade’s patented sealed, shielded, and lifetime lubricated QuadRod linkage they have been designed for maximum uptime and minimal maintenance. Deviating from conventional grader blade design, the outboard mounted cylinders reduce cross coupling to a minimum, and with no centre pivot delivers the most rigid blade in its class which can also grade both forwards and in reverse.
Machine compatibility is paramount to delivering great performance, so an adjustable hitch plate is a standard feature that ensures perfectly level installation, and an underslung walking beam reduces wheel scuff in turns. Twin pivoting blades can cut, carry, trim, spread and finish in one pass and in either direction.
Hydraulically actuated side wings are designed to cut and trim, and to ensure minimal damage to curbs when working close, the wings are designed with rounded front corners, and to ensure maximum uptime the side wing cylinders are operated in tension making it near impossible to damage them. A curved moldboard which is deepest in class, along with no centre pivot reduces material segregation and delivers competitive response times.
To ensure maximum compatibility with all major 3D control systems including Topcon MC Mobile, the company also provides premade brackets and harnesses to simplify installation, or for 2D control SharpGrade’s own QuadGrade control system can be operated from an on-board display, mobile phone or tablet, and for exacting accuracy with grade matching or string line work, the optional Sonic Tracker can be attached to either side of the machine.
