EC Surfacing Ltd, based in Brigg in North Lincolnshire, has expanded its machine fleet with the purchase of the company’s fourth new Bobcat S570H skid-steer loader and a new Bobcat E27 mini-excavator from AMS Bobcat, the local Authorised Bobcat Dealer.
Widely acknowledged as one of the industry leaders in the field of road surfacing and civil engineering projects in this region of the UK, EC Surfacing holds framework contracts for a number of local authorities, including North Lincolnshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and Sheffield City Council.
Over 10 Years of Success with Bobcat
According to Jim Huxford, Managing Director of EC Surfacing, Bobcat machines are excellent tools for road projects. He said: “Formed in 2009, we have been purchasing Bobcat skid-steer loaders and attachments from AMS Bobcat for over 10 years and we now have our first Bobcat mini-excavator on order.
“They have always produced the best results and are an integral part of the equipment we use. The latest loader purchase is one of four new Bobcat S570H skid-steer loaders recently supplied by AMS – when we felt that it was time to invest in new compact equipment for our fleet, our previous experience meant there was only one choice for us and that is Bobcat.”
Over the last 11 years, EC Surfacing has continued to grow rapidly, to the point where the company is one of the largest consumers of tarmac in the area. Unlike most surfacing companies, EC Surfacing owns most of the company’s plant, providing the opportunity to offer more competitive pricing.
EC Surfacing provides a wide range of services including preparation, drainage and surfacing on roads, footpaths, repairing potholes, tennis courts and other sports surfaces, playgrounds and other amenities as well as domestic, industrial and commercial facilities, encompassing virtually any hard standing area that requires a durable surface.
High Performance Surface Repair Package
Jim Huxford added: “We use the Bobcat loaders with buckets for front end loading of tarmac when we are hand-laying surfaces and clean up afterwards with brush attachments on the loaders. As they are high flow models, we also use the new loaders with planer attachments to carry out repair work.
“Together Bobcat loaders and attachments form a high performance road and pavement surface repair package, which provides an ideal solution for repairing not only the increasing number of potholes and surface cracks we are seeing, but also for milling surfaces and for work around manholes.”
Like all Bobcat compact loaders, the S570H loader is equipped with the quick-change Bob-Tach attachment mounting system, allowing it to be combined quickly and safely with over 100 different families of Bobcat attachments, delivering versatility and time-saving efficiency across a huge range of different applications.
Jim Huxford continued: “With its ability to turn around within its own length and fast cycle times, the S570H loader offers us the manoeuvrability and flexibility we need in the sometimes tight spaces available on site, working alongside our bigger machines such as pavers and rollers on surfacing projects.”
The new E27 2.7 tonne model is part of the award-winning Bobcat R-Series of mini-excavators from 2-4 tonne. It is a conventional swing model providing an in-class unique combination of superior stability, class leading digging performance and breakout forces, together with a transport weight that is still below the weight limits for appropriate trailers.
Jim Huxford concluded: “With its digging abilities and the fact that it can load high sided trucks, the new E27 is a perfect complement to the Bobcat loaders and attachments. This makes the machine an ideal tool for highly demanding applications where performance together with transportability have a priority over compactness.”
