Fast-growing plant and powered access hire specialist FGS Plant has placed its biggest ever order for access platforms – investing over £2million in a range of LGMG scissor lifts and boom lifts.
Access Platform Sales, the UK and Ireland distributor for LGMG, is delivering the platforms in two tranches, the first in August and September 2022, the rest in early 2023.
The platforms are being shared between FGS Plant’s own fleet, based at its HQ depot in Aylesford, Kent, and its access rental business, Hire Access Platforms, in Poole, Dorset.
FGS Plant and Hire Access Platforms closely examined different options to renew and expand its fleet before deciding that investing in LGMG platforms was the stand-out solution, said Managing Director Stuart Willy.
He added: “When we looked at LGMG, the quality of the platforms was very good indeed, their specification is excellent and APS can guarantee fast delivery with a deal that made the best commercial sense.”
Dave Solomon, Director of Hire Access Platforms, said: “LGMG platforms offer an excellent package with strong options across its product range, and we’re confident we’ll get equally strong after sales back-up from APS.
“We see it as a very good one-stop-shop solution to build our platform fleet and continue to offer our customers the quality and service we’ve built our reputation on as a business.”
APS Managing Director Steve Couling said: “We’re delighted FGS Plant and its sister company, Hire Access Platforms, has selected both LGMG and APS as a powered access and service package it can trust.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with Stuart and Dave, and their hire teams, over the coming months as we deliver these platforms and their customers realise the clear advantages LGMG machines provide.”
Chinese manufacturer LGMG offers a full range of electric and diesel scissor lifts and boom lifts, which are distributed to more than 30 countries. It is at the forefront of producing and marketing lithium electric platforms, including rough terrain models.
FGS Plant has built a strong reputation for quality and service since it was established in 2004 and is determined to maintain these standards as it rapidly expands its presence in the access rental market.
The company’s success is founded on the hire of excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, shovels and attachments across the South-East, but it sees access platform hire as a key growth area.

Stuart Willy said: “We’re very much looking forward to introducing the new LGMG platforms to our customers. In fact, the first machines delivered by APS went directly to a customer on a highway project.
“I’m confident they’ll provide continuity in terms of the quality of platforms expected of us, combined with enhanced performance, with improved features, such as smart diagnostic systems that will maximise utilisation.”
