A York-based independent plant and tool hire company is continuing to expand its powered access offering.
Elvington Plant Hire has provided a wide range of tools and equipment to customers across Yorkshire since the 1960s. The company moved into powered access in 2015, after acquiring some Genie GS-1932 electric scissor lifts and a Hinowa 17.75 Lightlift tracked boom.
Under the guidance of Managing Director, Tim Garland, the company has steadily grown its fleet and has now added its first rough terrain boom lift, a Genie Z-45/25JRT.
Tim Garland, Managing Director of Elvington Plant Hire, said: “We supply a lot of plant out of York towards Selby and Leeds. We noticed that as our wagons were heading west down the A64, we would see trailers full of access platforms heading in the opposite direction towards York.
“We are starting to really carve ourselves a niche for powered access in York – and we can be quite competitive on price, because obviously our transport costs are lower as we are closer to the customers.”
The company has a longstanding relationship with APS, the UK’s largest independent powered access distributor, which is also an authorised Genie dealer. The Z-45 is the latest machine it has purchased from APS, with more planned for 2019.
“York has experienced a construction boom,” added Tim. “We have cross-hired a few Z-45s in order to meet demand from our clients, and that has enabled us to test the water. One particular client has had the new Z-45 out for over three weeks and absolutely loves it.”
The Genie Z-45/25JRT is an extremely popular articulating rough terrain boom, providing a working height of just under 16m, and superb ‘up-and-over’ capabilities. With positive drive traction and an active oscillating axle, it is ideal for rough terrain work.
