Norfolk based stone mason business HL Perfitt has replaced its existing long-term Isuzu truck with a brand-new Isuzu 7.5 tonne tipper that is being used to transport heavy memorials, headstones, and kitchen worktops to customers in the south of England, together with occasional trips to the various war cemeteries in northern France and Belgium.
Replacing an incumbent 56-plate Isuzu tipper that has been in uninterrupted service for the company for over 12 years, the new Isuzu has been acquired on a five-year lease, through Lex Autolease.
“With twelve-years’ service, the Isuzu has been a formidable truck in operation, however it was time for us to replace it with a more modern vehicle that meets all the latest emission criteria, as so much of our work is now in the London area. Our Isuzu truck has become a critical part of our delivery operation, so the replacement Isuzu N75.150 was the perfect choice. Isuzu has proven to be the ideal versatile vehicle for our deliveries not just in the capital but also for handling those journeys covering narrow rural roads elsewhere in the South of England.” said Vikki Gordon, General Manager from HL Perfitt.
Vikki continues, “Payload was also a critical factor behind the choice of new vehicle as the memorial headstones and kitchen worktops are both large and extremely heavy, with each one potentially weighing in at up to 1.5 tonne. Its Isuzu predecessor was a truly reliable workhorse, easily handling the complex delivery jobs for these weighty items, so we went like for like with its replacement.”
Supplied through local Isuzu Truck Dealer, Norfolk Truck & Van in Ipswich, the Isuzu N75.150 (E) was specified with a PD Stevens tipper body and features a remote radio-controlled Palfinger PK5 501 SLD5 cab-mounted crane that has a lifting capacity of 3,300 kgs and a reach of 12.7 metres. Within the tipper body, the heavy, bulky memorial headstones and worktops fit within an existing A-frame during delivery, whilst the tipper truck is also used for the removal of scrap stone from the company’s main stone mason’s yard.
Originally established in 1842, HL Perfitt are based in Diss, Norfolk and was acquired by the East of England Co-op in 2012. The company produces bespoke funeral masonry in a wide range of stone materials, complementing the Co-op’s fifty-six strong regionwide funeral service branches, together with architectural masonry, fireplaces, and worktops for bathrooms and luxury kitchens.
“With this long-established Norfolk stone mason business, we see how the reliability and performance of the Isuzu 7.5 tonne truck range is, once again, unrivalled at this GVW. HL Perfitt have benefitted from this for the past twelve-years, with the Isuzu becoming central to their daily delivery operation. The arrival of the replacement 2022 spec Isuzu will now continue this long held tradition for them for many more years to come,” said Lee Barwick, fleet sales manager, Isuzu Truck (UK) Ltd.
