C.H. Middleton is one of Yorkshire’s leading privately owned Waste Management companies working with local authorities plus hundreds of businesses and tradesmen to deliver a prompt and professional Waste Management Service.
Middleton’s as they are known in and around South Yorkshire have operated in the UK for over 70 years, becoming C.H. Middleton Ltd. in 1959. Their services have evolved over the years to meet economic and customer demands with their most recent change being a focus on recycling of all waste streams and offering customers “Zero Waste to Landfill” solutions.
Dealing with virtually all aspects of waste management, disposal and recycling; including difficult, confidential and hazardous wastes they are capable of delivering individual tailored waste services.
Guy Middleton (Director) said “In the 1980’s we expanded our Recycling & Waste Management Services beyond Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham to adapt to the needs of our customers and answer the call for a high class on demand waste service which was flexible and adapted to changes in legislation and waste handling practices.”
Guy added “Our aim is to meet all of our customers’ waste needs in a friendly, professional manner and deliver a full audit trail. Our Environmental Performance and Safety Record speak for themselves, as do our customer references and reputation.”
Operating from their purpose built, fully licensed waste transfer station at Doncaster they have drastically reduced the amount of waste that they send to landfill sites, minimising their carbon footprint and that of their customers. To assist with handling the waste on site, Guy has just purchased a TEREX TWH220 waste handler from local dealer Warwick Ward.
The decision for a new handler was an important one for Guy as the JCB handler he was looking to replace did the lion’s share of the work in the yard. When Robert Hughes (Warwick Ward) originally spoke to Guy he had a list of important requirements of the machine, firstly, strong stability and performance, fuel economy, driver comfort, after sales and finally reliability.
Guy demonstrated several different manufactures’ machines including JCB, CAT and Komatsu before deciding that the Terex TWH220 supported by Warwick Ward had the full package.
When asked about the factors that helped him make the important decision to purchase a TEREX TWH220 he said ”One of the main reasons for going ahead with the TEREX were the new tier 4 engines that give smooth power accompanied with excellent fuel economy and low emissions, which is in keeping with our profile as being as green as possible.”
It wasn’t just the state-of-the-art engine and cooling technology that impressed Guy, he added “due to the hours the machine will be working, our operator’s were involved heavily in the decision making process as they will be sitting in the seat all day every day.
They found the Terex the most comfortable, controllable and stable machine by a large margin, meaning that even on a long shift, fatigue would be kept to a minimum”. This is achieved by the Terex being a purpose built material handler designed from the ground up for the one purpose, making it more stable and reliable.
When discussing things further with Guy he mentioned ”the other critical factor for our business was reliability and after sales I feel that the Terex material handlers build quality accompanied with Warwick Wards 50 years experience in after sales was a perfect combination”
