Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe has revealed two new mini excavator models, with the launch of its new SK26SR-7 and the updated SK28SR-7 models.

Designed to handle more demanding applications, the SK26SR-7 offers a transport weight of just 2.58 t with the cab option and 2.42 t with canopy, allowing it to be easily transported on a 3.5-t trailer.

Both the SK26SR-7 and the updated SK28SR-7 mini excavator, which also sits in the 2.5 to 3-t class, feature short radius designs, with the machines’ short tail swing enabling them to work in confined spaces and next to walls or ditches.

The SK26SR-7 and SK28SR-7 incorporate several new features to boost their capabilities. Based on the company’s Performance X Design concept, the models feature a more comfortable cabin that provides an improved working environment, than its previous generation of machines.

The new cabs include a mechanical suspension and reclining seat with headrest, DAB+ radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.5-inch multi-colour display screen that gives the operator access to important machine information and data, such as fuel and water temperature, service intervals and hydraulic oil flow levels for the attachments.

The company says quick access to this information can help ensure timely maintenance, reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns and optimising the machines’ lifespan.

Meanwhile, the updated SK28SR-7 mini excavator features a number of improvements. Engine output has been increased from 18 kW to 19 kW and newly improved hydraulic system is said to deliver “enhanced operability”, when compared to its predecessor.

For increased versatility, the Quick Hitch piping has also been extended by 200mm for easy connection to a wide range of attachments. The removable travel levers improve accessibility to the main control valve, which helps to facilitate maintenance and servicing of the hydraulics, ensuring smoother operations and reducing downtime.
