IVECO’s ability to offer overnight servicing and maintenance from a main dealer just two miles away has helped to secure a conquest deal with Hargreaves Industrial Services, for a dozen new 44-tonne Stralis Hi-Road tractor units.
North East Truck & Van (NETV) delivered the new arrivals into a 24-strong heavy truck fleet, with the Stralis’ to be used for specialist tipping work across Humberside. They become the first IVECOs operated by the customer, which now has a 100 per cent IVECO artic tipper fleet.
Trevor Holland, Warehouse and Distribution Manager at Hargreaves Industrial Services, says: “Reducing downtime is critical for our work, so being able to benefit from an IVECO dealership which is open 24 hours a day during the week, and right on our doorstep, sealed the deal. Our drivers can now drop the trucks off in the evening, trusting fully that the team at NETV will have them ready to pick-up the next morning.”
Commenting on doing business with NETV for the first time, Holland adds: “The team were extremely helpful from start to finish. They understood how important it is for our trucks to be on the road when we need them most, and tailored the deal to include scheduled overnight maintenance. We also looked very carefully at the spec of the Stralis Hi-Road and have full trust in it to deliver exactly what we need.”
Each Stralis Hi-Road 6×2 (AT440S46TX/P) is powered by an 11.1-litre Cursor 11 diesel engine delivering up to 460hp and 2,150 Nm of torque – driven through a 12-speed automated gearbox. They will operate with tri-axle Weightlifter tipping trailers.
The tractor units benefit from IVECO’s patented HI-SCR engine technology to meet Euro VI emissions limits, which crucially doesn’t require driver involvement nor downtime from forced regeneration. This improves productivity, saves costs and increases durability for the operator, thanks to less complex, highly efficient and proven engine technology.
Finished in the customer’s striking green livery, each Stralis Hi-Road has been built with a low roof, giving the vehicle a height of less than 3.7 metres – essential for meeting Hargreaves Industrial Services’ strict loading requirements.
Additional features include an in-cab telephone and automatic rear door release for the tipping trailer, allowing the driver to conduct the unloading process from the safety of the cab. Specialist on-board weighing equipment has also been added to ensure the trailer is never overloaded.
All servicing and maintenance will be carried out at NETV’s site in Immingham as part of a five-year IVECO Elements repair and maintenance package. On the road seven days a week, each truck will clock up around 50,000 km a year and will remain on the fleet until 2024.
NETV’s Immingham dealership is one of more than 25 dedicated IVECO Truck Stations within the UK, and 250 across Europe, recognised for operating a highly efficient workshop dedicated to the specific needs of heavy truck fleets. These dealer sites have completed a rigorous set of standards covering all business areas, including expert staff training, extended opening hours and higher parts availability.
Truck Stations guarantee the availability of the key spare parts, thanks to IVECO’s efficient stock management and logistics, which rely on advanced tools such as Parts Retail Inventory Management and the new Dealer-to-Dealer ordering system to ensure the right parts are delivered to the right place at the right time for its heavy truck customers.
