AMI’s office received a phone call early Thursday morning from a customer reporting that their equipment was not where they had previously left it the evening before, alerting AMI to theft of a Wacker Neuson Telehandler. The machine was fitted with an AMI Asset+ solution – AMI’s hybrid solution inclusive of both wired and non-wired technology. Once a machine has an Asset+ solution installed this allows, both AMI’s monitoring service and the customer concerned to establish the exact GPS position of the asset via the Nexis platform and mobile App.
Monitored minute-by-minute, AMI personnel quickly established a confirmed an exact GPS position of the asset, this pin-pointed the machine to a secure site in Stockton-on-Tees. The police were notified of the position and acted quickly to help locate and recover the machine from the given site.
The police arrived on site within 15 minutes of being notified. They were able to utilise the exact GPS position provided and gained entry to the secure site. The GPS position combined with machine details provided by the customer were used to identify the stolen machine. The machine was recovered from the site and returned to the customers yard within an hour after the theft was reported to AMI Group.
