Hire company Aerial Platforms (APL) hosted a successful open day on 1 May to welcome customers to its new 15,000sq ft premises in Leigh, Greater Manchester.
Its bespoke headquarters have been designed with an emphasis on sustainability, and to facilitate the company’s future growth, increase efficiency and provide an increased level of service to customers.
A supplier of JLG equipment since it was established in 2008, APL currently has 320 JLG machines in its fleet, including: 1250AJP and 1500AP ultra booms; E300AJP and M600JP electric boom lifts; and a range of electric scissor lifts. They are in high demand by construction contractors working in the Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Liverpool areas.
“JLG machines make up 70% of our fleet,” says Dave Rimmer, APL Finance Director. “They are the crème de la crème of access equipment, with a high level of reliability and other beneficial features required by our customers.”
A focus on sustainability
One of the company’s recent additions to its JLG fleet is the first H800AJ to be delivered in the UK. The 80-foot hybrid boom lift is designed to reduce emissions, noise and fuel consumption as a result of an electric motor/generator engine.
Sustainability is a key focus for APL, which is reflected in the design and build of its new depot and offices. They are equipped with state-of-the-art, low-energy equipment, which is part-run on renewable energy provided by a nearby purpose-built solar farm.
“Aside from the vast increase in size that was required due the company’s rapid growth and fleet size, we also wanted to make it a priority to reduce our impact on the environment,” adds Dave. “We have created a base of operation that will be sustainable for many more years to come.”
An increase in space has also allowed all engineers to have designated work bays with premium equipment. These allow for efficient PDIs and maintaining the exceptional level of customer service for which APL is renowned.
“We’d like to congratulate APL on the official opening of their impressive new premises and we look forward to being part of their continued success story in the Northwest,” says Dan Robertson, Northern Account Manager, JLG.
