GAP Hire Solutions has launched a commemorative book in celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary in April 2019, which chronicles the development of the company from its inception to its plans for the future.
The various contributions throughout the book have come from the Anderson family as well as GAP’s employees, customers, suppliers and friends of the family and company. The book is available to read online here.
GAP was established in 1969 by Gordon Anderson with one depot in Linwood, near Glasgow, and is now the largest independent rental company in the UK. This book is principally dedicated to Gordon Anderson’s legacy. Gordon was a pioneer of the earthmoving plant hire industry in Scotland, and since taking over as Joint Managing Directors his sons, Douglas and Iain, have successfully developed the company into a nationwide operation.
GAP is continuing to stand out from its competitors by having a clear understanding of how to help its customers achieve their goals. This approach has been regularly underlined over the years by the evolution of the service it can provide. For example, GAP’s same-day delivery promise on Club 100 tools was launched in response to customer demand.
Iain Anderson commented: “I derive tremendous satisfaction in what we have achieved to date. Douglas and I recognise and value the heritage of the GAP brand and appreciate that we are the custodians of it. With every new opportunity to explore there are also additional challenges to meet, but nothing excites me more than a challenge!”
