Garic, one of the UK’s most innovative welfare and site set up equipment providers is supplying a carefully planned compact welfare solution for Coleman & Company’s 40 week Birmingham city centre demolition project.
The demolition company has been contracted to take down the 10-storey former Royal Mail building for a local West Midlands property developer who has plans to build a 14-storey apartment block.
Adjacent to one of the city’s busiest streets, Lionel Street and The Mailbox up-market shopping and office development, the confined site required specialist welfare facilities.
Sophie Rolfe, Garic’s regional account manager explains: “Because the site is restricted Coleman’s needed comprehensive but integrated welfare facilities. Our combi cabins are ideal because they have canteens, offices, toilets and drying rooms all in one unit. They’re designed to be completely self-contained so Coleman’s don’t need to connect water and power supplies.
“There are university buildings, offices and residential properties surrounding the site so keeping disruption to a minimum is also very important. These welfare units might seem compact but they offer really quite extensive features such as fresh water, waste and fuel tanks, flushing toilets, urinals, hot and cold water, hand dryers, heating, lighting and power generators whilst being quiet and highly eco-efficient.
“We will be liaising closely with Coleman’s throughout the project to make sure servicing the units is sensitively scheduled to cause as little disruption as possible to the site’s neighbours.”
Garic’s Combi Cabin series 24’x9’ site welfare units have canteens with seating for up to eight staff, office, drying room, storage area and two private WCs. Manufactured in the UK using the only the highest quality materials, they have anti-vandal features such as 5-point deadlocking systems making them one of the most robust, secure and flexible self-contained options available in the welfare unit hire market.
Designed to help customers save up to 86% in energy costs, Garic’s drying rooms have a thermostatically controlled solar-powered, blown air heating system supported by an oil burner for quicker and quieter drying.
The Solar Dryer comes with two changing benches and a coat rail with captive anti-theft hangers and lockers is required. The unit has PIR controlled automatic LED lighting on entry, making it perfect for regular use on a busy site and is fully secure with anti-vandal feature along with heavy duty low level lifting eyes and fork lift inserts.
