At Kingstown Works Ltd (KWL), Isuzu has become the truck of choice for the Hull based organisation, due to its proven reliability and excellent payload over a long period of time.
With over 20 years’ practical experience of running Isuzu trucks in its fleet, KWL is a firm fan of the Isuzu marque, having developed an excellent relationship with its local Isuzu dealer as its fleet requirements consistently change.
“Isuzus have become part and parcel of our fleet and, over and above the reliability and payload benefits, our vehicle operatives and crews definitely like them, consistently giving us positive feedback about the vehicles’ performance. At the same time, we get excellent support from Thompson Commercials here in Hull, who are our local Isuzu Truck dealer, and this is an integral part of the success of the long-term relationship with Isuzu,” said Garry Middleton, fleet and engineering manager at Kingstown Works Ltd.
After taking delivery of four Isuzu 7.5 tonne tippers last year, KWL has recently added to its commercial vehicle fleet with a further six Isuzu N75.190 (E) 7.5 tonne crew cab tippers that have now gone into service, working on behalf of the Highways Department at Hull City Council. These vehicles will be in the KWL fleet for a minimum of seven years.
The six Isuzu 7.5 tonners each feature the popular Easyshift automated transmission and all the vehicles have front mounted Penny Hydraulic lifts and Gardner Denver drive systems that provide compressed air to operate the plant and equipment used for ongoing road repairs.
As part of its continual fleet improvement programme, KWL has also placed an order for a further seven Isuzu 7.5 tonne tippers and these are scheduled for delivery in early 2020. This fleet acquisition order includes six Isuzu 7.5 tonne day cab chassis with caged tippers and fold-over tail lifts, as well as one additional Isuzu 7.5 tonne crew cab tipper with rear crane.
Operating out of its city centre location in Hull, Kingstown Works Ltd currently operates a fleet of over 150 commercial vehicles, as well as maintaining and running over 400 pieces of plant and equipment.
“The long-term relationship between Kingstown Works Ltd and Isuzu Truck UK is a classic example of how two companies can work very closely together to ensure the specification for new vehicles entering a fleet satisfactorily meets the requirements of the end user, in this case Hull City Council. In conjunction with Thompson Commercials in Hull, Isuzu Truck has an excellent working relationship with KWL, which will continue well into the next decade,’ said Dave Slatcher, municipal fleet sales manager, Isuzu Truck UK
