Hire of 14m telehandler secured within days of opening
Jarvie Plant’s new Manchester depot, its first in England, is off to a flying start with management reporting a maiden hire within days of their new plant equipment arriving on site.
A Scottish-based groundworks contractor has wasted no time in snapping up a 14m telehandler from the facility on Chaddock Lane in Astley, 10 miles to the north-west of the city.
The Grangemouth-based firm, which has invested over £1m acquiring the 3-acre site, will initially employ up to 10 staff providing an extensive range of equipment, including telehandlers, dumpers, excavators, site accommodation, vehicles, generators and lighting.
“The site we have acquired in Manchester shows real commitment to the growth strategy of the business in establishing a presence south of the border,” commented Jarvie Plant’s newly appointed Regional Operations Manager North-West, Dave Ingleby.
“I am relishing the challenge of driving forward Jarvie’s first English depot and providing the same high quality plant and service commitment as we do in Scotland,” he added.
The depot is part of Jarvie’s wider growth strategy to increase the firm’s visibility amongst main contractors, civils contractors and house builders across the UK.
During 2016, two purpose built depots in Dundee and Aberdeen were opened taking the total number of facilities in Scotland to 8. This number will increase to 9 later this year when a new depot opens in Nairn on Scotland’s north coast.
“Opening our Manchester depot is a significant milestone for Jarvie Plant but it is just one of a number of exciting developments in our business,” commented Jarvie Plant’s sales director, Ian Hutchison.
“Chaddock Lane was attractive because of its location close to both the M60 and M61 making us highly accessible to companies who cover a large geographical area,” he added.
