A Mini Excavator has been recovered and returned to a hire company following a break-in to a secure site on the outskirts of London.
A team of skilled thieves broke into the site in the early hours of the morning. The customer received a geofence alert from the Nexis system and acted on this. The customer then checked the position of the roller on the system and noticed this was different from the site address. Following a call to the AMI out-of-hours team, a finder was dispatched to the site to help track down the stolen machine.
The finder arrived on site following a positive GPS position from the wired-in tracking solution. The excavator was fitted with an Asset+ Solution which includes both a wired-in and battery-operated solution in one. Upon arrival at the scene, the machine was located using a combination of cell-site triangulation and research of the area, alongside the finder’s RF scanning equipment, the finder was able to gain a better insight into the excavator’s location. Police then gained access to the site and the excavator was recovered and returned to the customer, with the machine back out on hire within hours.
