Pump hire specialist, Sykes Pumps, has continued its national expansion programme with a new, 1.5 acre site purpose built depot in Doncaster, bringing the company’s total UK depot network to over 25 locations.
Strategically positioned to enhance Sykes Pumps’ service provision across Yorkshire and into Lincolnshire and beyond, the new depot is just three miles outside the centre of Doncaster in a location that benefits from access to the M18 and M62 motorway network to enable rapid dispatch of equipment and engineers. The depot can also be accessed easily by customers that need to pick up equipment from Sykes Pumps’ extensive fleet.
New depot manager, Paul Duggan, has joined the company to manage the facilities and the team at the new Sykes Pumps site. A number of pump engineers have also been recruited from the local area to provide Sykes Pumps’ high customer care standards, with 24/7 service capabilities and a ‘Rapid Response’ call out commitment.
The new depot is twice the size of Sykes Pumps’ previous Yorkshire sites in Leeds and Scunthorpe, combining the capabilities of these two locations into a single site. The new facility incorporates a 16,500 sq ft workshop for repair and maintenance of equipment, along with a large yard and storage space for an extensive and varied fleet, which includes a full range of diesel, submersible, hydraulic, silenced and high performance pumps. The Doncaster site also includes a dedicated paint shop area, full testing capabilities and a training suite, along with air conditioned offices and welfare facilities for the depot’s admin and support teams.
Providing an integrated facility for provision of all Andrew Sykes hire equipment from across the group, the new depot will also supply air conditioning, chiller, heating, boiler, dehumidifier and ventilation equipment, alongside Sykes Pumps’ wide-ranging fleet.
Comments Sykes Pumps’ UK operations director, David Himsworth: “We already have a strong presence in the north of England and the new depot in Doncaster will build on those capabilities, enabling us to serve more customers with an even larger fleet and an unbeatable commitment to service, technical support and rapid response.
“Whether customers need specialist equipment for a planned maintenance programme or have an urgent need for pumps on site, our in-house expertise and varied fleet means that we can help quickly and cost-effectively. As we continue to expand our depot network we are reiterating our promise to deliver big company resources and technical capabilities with local service and supply.”
