A number of the products on the Doosan Construction Equipment stand are being shown for the first time at Plantworx 2019. They include the company’s new Stage V DX27z, DX62R-3 and DX85R-3 mini-excavators, the latest version of the DA30 articulated dump truck (ADT) and the new DL420CVT-5 wheel loader.
New Doosan Stage V Mini-Excavators
The new 2.7 tonne DX27z is one of two zero tail swing (ZTS) models being added to Doosan’s range of mini-excavators, the other model being the 3.5 tonne DX35z. Both new mini-excavators provide a best-in-class mix of superb stability, smooth controllability and high digging forces, complemented by low weights for easy transportation.
As a true ZTS machine (even with the optional heavy counterweight), the DX27z offers the highest flexibility of movements when working close to walls, coupled with best-in-class 360-degree stability and a low weight for easy transportation. The DX27z combines excellent performance characteristics with the largest cab for this size of machine on the market.
With the optional long arm and a premium cab, the DX27z offers the digging output and operator comfort of much larger excavators, making it the machine of choice for work in busy urban areas.
The DX27z will be shown alongside new Stage V versions of the company’s very successful DX62R-3 6 tonne and DX85R-3 8 tonne mini-excavators.
The new Stage V DX85R-3 8 tonne reduced tail swing (RTS) excavator from Doosan is powered by the Yanmar 4TNV98C Common Rail direct injection diesel engine, providing 44.3 kW of power at a rated speed of 2100 rpm.
The new Stage V version of the 6 tonne DX62R-3 RTS model is powered by the same Yanmar 4TNV98C diesel engine, providing a massive 22% increase in engine power over the previous generation model.
There is a strong focus on compact products on the Doosan stand with the DX10 1 tonne, DX17 1.7 tonne and DX19 1.9 tonne mini-excavators also being shown at Plantworx 2019.
Doosan will be showing the latest version of the DA30 30 tonne class ADT at Plantworx alongside the company’s DL420CVT-5 wheel loader and DX140LCR-5 crawler excavator. The changes in the DA30 are signified by a fresh colour scheme for the machine that also aligns it with other products in the Doosan Heavy range. Most of the changes are aimed at enhancing operator comfort and the controllability of the machine, but there are also changes in the driveline and electrical systems.
New Hydro-Gas Self-levelling Suspension
The most important development is in the suspension of the DA30 which has been upgraded to a hydro-gas self-levelling system to provide outstanding performance and superior shock absorption for better driving comfort, especially when the truck is being driven when it is empty. To complement this, the operator now benefits from a Grammer Actimo XXL seat in the cab as standard with its own independent low-frequency pneumatic and wide scissors-type suspension.
The Grammer seat is not the only change in the new state-of-art operator’s cab on the DA30 which has been redesigned to provide better ergonomics and more operator comfort. The dashboard has a completely new layout and soft-touch material composition that is easier to clean and features a new display as well as a high quality finish and appearance.
The cab also offers new safety and performance functions with a more comfortable control panel with a power cut off switch and an LED indication lamp which indicates when it is safe to switch off the power cut off. Other features include a new easy-to-use lever for retarder steering, a new more precise brake system for increased sensitivity and performance, an extra hand grip on the right hand side, a USB charger and a 12V/24V power socket, together with more convenient compartment storage and electrically adjustable mirrors as standard.
According to Doosan, in the new version of the DA30, there will be lower running costs involved as there are a reduced number of service points with fewer different oil types in the driveline and increased intervals for transmission oil change. In addition, the new cab tilting system enables the service technician to lift and close the cab in just a few minutes.
Up to 25% Additional Fuel Savings
It is also the first appearance for the new DL420CVT-5 Stage IV compliant wheel loader at Plantworx – the first model in the Doosan® wheel loader range to be equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). A CVT transmission is the result of a permanent combination of a hydraulic technology and a mechanical technology which provides a smooth and continuous speed variation.
The complete driving range, forwards and in reverse, is controlled by the CVT system. Low engine speeds ensure a high efficiency and the highest driving comfort irrespective of the traction speed. The power splitting continuously variable technology facilitates moving off softly and hydraulically. Furthermore, with the CVT, a fuel saving of up to 25% can be achieved.
By combining the two types of transmission, the new CVT technology ensures high loads can be carried at low engine speeds with high dynamics for an optimum wheel loader operating cycle. The DL420CVT-5 therefore provides an increase in machine performance for operators working in digging, loading and lifting applications.
With a maximum bucket capacity of 4.4 m3, the new Doosan DL420CVT-5 wheel loader is intended to meet a wide range of material-handling needs from loading and transporting granular material (such as sand or gravel) to industrial, construction, demolition, mining and quarrying applications.
For most tasks, operators will utilise the hydrostatic part of the transmission, which offers greater fuel efficiency in low-speed applications. The combination of the two transmissions is automatic and fully transparent for the operator.
