Europe’s second largest telematics company, ABAX with its UK headquarters in Peterborough, launches ABAX Smart Connect this week. A solution they refer to as a digital transformation for fleet management.
With the launch, ABAX will become a central IoT platform provider within the fleet management market, as well as strengthening its position as a telematics company. With, ABAX Smart Connect, at the click of a button, operators can import connected machines, giving instant access to all the ISO 15143-3 machinery data in one account. In fact, ABAX Smart Connect improves its market leading solution to also include data from existing onboard telematics.
Utilising their established telematics platform, alongside the incorporation of open APIs from machine manufacturers such as Hitachi, John Deere and Caterpillar, businesses can gather data from all their assets in one single portal. Because there is already a factory-installed hardware, there is no extra hardware needed, no installation and no downtime – the fleet is simply connected. Regardless of the brand and manufacturer, everything will be made available with a single login.
Morten Strand, CEO of ABAX says that “Data capture is on the agenda of everyone involved in fleet management. The potential is enormous when it comes to leveraging data for more agile fleet management, thereby increasing operating profit. ABAX Smart Connect, not only provides total transparency, control and peace of mind, it is also simple and easy-to-use, and accessible to businesses managing a mixed fleet and a multitude of assets.”
Estimates huge savings
One sector ABAX sees great potential is in the construction industry. By collecting and managing the data more efficiently through the ABAX Smart Connect platform, ABAX estimates that the construction industry alone can save enormous sums. For the smaller operators alone, the forecasted savings may be as much as £750,000 over a 3 year period.
The barriers to digitalisation and innovation include time, knowledge and expertise. With ABAX Smart Connect, ABAX makes the “digitisation threshold” for businesses even lower, by offering a simple interface for interpreting data that will seamlessly help streamline the working life of the contractors”, Strand continues.
Using ABAX Smart Connect, available data can be brought into the ABAX platform no matter the brand. The list of supported OEMs is growing rapidly and ABAX Smart Connect is currently supporting instant access with industry leaders, including Hitachi, John Deere and Caterpillar and there will be more to come. For machines that are not equipped with a tracking device, ABAX offers proprietary devices for retrofitting.
Data capture and greener construction sites
With the growing requirement for businesses to monitor and manage their overall sustainability, including that of their supply chain, the new solution will provide insight into carbon emissions from the fleet. Furthermore, through ABAX’s environmental report, businesses can get an overview of the carbon efficiency of individual assets; thus, assisting with planning for future fleet replacement, suitability of alternative fuel equipment and vehicles and ultimately, the move towards fleet electrification.
