Haulotte, the European leader of people and material lifting equipment, announces the launch of its own telematics solution, based on customer requests for valuable and accurate data. From preparing for technical call-outs, identifying on-site unsafe behaviors, to proactive energy management, Haulotte’s brand new solution is changing the way people manage their fleet.
Monitor your fleet from anywhere, in real-time
Easy to use, SHERPAL fleet management system provides rental companies, equipment owners, and service managers, actionable insights to make the right decisions at the right time. It offers remote access to machine data and gives a consolidated overview of the status of all assets, whatever the size of the aerial equipment fleet.
“SHERPAL is designed to manage aerial fleets more efficiently. It delivers focused and meaningful data to be more productive, secure the day-to-day operations and grow business. It simply makes life easier. By connecting machines with SHERPAL telematics solutions, you are sure to increase equipment uptime and utilization rates, all while reducing operating costs” says Christophe Lacaze, operational marketing manager at Haulotte.
SHERPAL telematics solution improves fleet performance and productivity
HERPAL is using an on-board GPS system to instantly locate machines in the field. The interactive map allows customers to track a specific asset or get an overview of the entire fleet. As the SHERPAL device constantly monitors what is happening on the machine’s CAN bus communication network, it can intercept and transmit a wide range of data. Much more than just GPS location, it displays crucial information to remotely perform an efficient and advanced diagnostic, such as:
> the machines’ operational status in real time with simple color code,
> the machines’ hourmeter and next maintenance deadlines,
> engine and battery status,
> fault codes, root causes, and even instructions on how to fix the problem…
Telematics data enables a quick and responsive customer support. SHERPAL is useful to plan the technical teams’ travel and ensures more effective call-outs by precisely identifying the issue, and the actions or parts required before planning an on-site repair.
“SHERPAL data depth is such that users can solve a problem before it becomes serious and causes a breakdown. It is a real asset to reduce downtime, save time and money” says Etienne Garnier, service marketing manager at Haulotte.
Maintaining a fleet is no longer a tedious process! Real-time hourmeter readings allows proactive scheduling of preventative maintenance campaigns. For easy planning, users can view the list of machines needing upcoming maintenance.
SHERPAL is enhancing fleet safety and health
The Energy Management module ensures reduced maintenance and replacement costs. By monitoring compliance with maintenance instructions (battery charging and water refilling, particulate filter regeneration, etc.), SHERPAL allows to extend the lifespan of batteries and engine components, and simplifies energy management.
The SHERPAL telematics solution embeds security features to better protect the equipment. It is possible to set up geofence borders on job sites to avoid machine theft. An alert is triggered automatically if a machine moves outside of the authorized areas.
SHERPAL also identifies risky behavior and send an alert in case of entrapment or overload situations. Monitoring hazardous machine use and occurrences makes it easier to implement appropriate safety policies on the jobsite.
SHERPAL drives business growth
Using telematics opens new opportunities. Thanks to the timefence feature, users can define usage time slots and thus detect more easily the non-contractual use of the machines. An alert is sent if the equipment is working outside of the defined time frame, allowing the equipment owner to charge according to actual use.
The permanent record provides better insights to improve the equipment’s uptime. By analyzing them, it is possible to identify underutilized machines. Usage, fault, and maintenance history are also very helpful to enhance the equipment resale value.
The Notification Centre allows sorting and customization of SHERPAL alerts so that only the relevant business data is displayed. That way, users are not overwhelmed with data and keep an eye on the most useful indicators. Targeted alerts enable to quick identification of what action should be taken first to proactively manage the fleet.
A technologically advanced telematic device
Equipped with a 4G antenna, the robust telematic device offers a stable and reliable connectivity. The data is transmitted regularly and securely to the servers using cellular technology: the appearance and disappearance of any fault codes are reported in just a few seconds!
No need to change the device to receive the latest improvements! The software can be updated over the air without any intervention to benefit quickly from updates and new functionalities. It also embeds components and technologies that will enable new possibilities in the future.
Two ways of accessing telematics data
Customers can either take advantage of the user-friendly MyHaulotte service portal or alternatively integrate the data into their existing system to display machine data.
> The MyHaulotte.com secure portal provides the best user experience and gathers all the key fleet information in the form of dashboards, interactive maps, and reports to simplify day-to-day activity. Available on desktops and mobile devices, the interface also gives access to a multitude of services related to the machine fleet: safety campaign monitoring, technical documentation, spare parts, and call-out requests.
> It is also possible to collect data and use it within the business’ own system by using a standard Application Programming Interface (API). Information and functions are organized by topic to ease the integration. Once connected, the servers exchange data dynamically: customers benefit from the full power of the SHERPAL solution without content differentiation.
Different SHERPAL telematics solutions for different data needs
Three subscription levels are available. Each offers different content and features to match all customers’ needs.
The SHERPAL solution will be offered as an option on all new Haulotte machines. Most older CAN bus machines can also be retrofitted with telematics by Haulotte technicians or trained staff. The upgrade kits are available in the Genuine Parts Store on MyHaulotte.com.
“The SHERPAL solution is already available in E.U. & EFTA countries, USA, Canada, Australia and New-Zealand. Additional countries are being certified and will complete the territorial coverage of the solution” announces Christophe Lacaze, operational marketing manager at Haulotte.
