Raising Safety Standards in Lifting Operations

Raising Safety Standards in Lifting Operations

The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) is supporting the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Crane Safety 2018 Seminar in London on 12th September.

The CPA’s Technical Consultant Tim Watson is chairing the event, which is designed to help raise safety standards for crane and lifting operations. The seminar presents the opportunity to learn industry best practice and how organisations can address the challenges of risk and incident reduction, cost savings versus maintenance and compliance with safety legislation. Tim brings over 40 years’ experience in the construction plant industry to the seminar and will be joined by speakers from the likes of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Bowmer and Kirkland, Keltbray Group, Laing O’Rourke, Select Plant Hire, Ainscough Crane Hire and Sparrows Group.

Tim Watson said: “As lifting projects continue to become more complex, crane owners and operators must understand how to maintain high levels of safety and compliance with industry regulations. A number of highly regarded speakers will be sharing best practice and case study presentations on a variety of challenging lifting projects in the real world. There will be interesting debate around risk and incident reduction and how to balance effective maintenance with existing budgets. Crane Safety 2018 will be invaluable for anyone with responsibility for lifting operations.”

New for the 2018 event is the opportunity to join breakout sessions that will address topics such as human factors, legal responsibilities, automation in lifting and non-destructive testing.
