Boss Plant Sales Limited’s Dave Simms reached a landmark 50th anniversary selling BOMAG compaction equipment in October and BOMAG, the world market leader in the field of compaction technology, recognised and celebrated his remarkable achievement with him.
At the event, at Boss Plant Sales Limited’s Tring depot, BOMAG GB’s Sales Manager Simon Kennedy remarked making the presentation, “Today marks a special and unique occasion as Dave has achieved something very few of us will ever do as he reaches his 50th anniversary selling BOMAG equipment! And so, to mark your remarkable anniversary I’m delighted to present you with this plaque, a letter of gratitude from the President of BOMAG, Mr Ralf Junker, and vouchers for fishing tackle to remind you of our friendship.”
In his 50-year career Dave has seen substantial changes in machine technology, reliability and performance, a drastic reduction in engine emissions and significant improvements in machine safety, convenience, and ergonomics, many of which were pioneered by BOMAG in the compaction market.
Graham Stansfield, Managing Director of Boss Plant Sales Limited, who has worked with Dave for over 27 years — firstly at Leach Lewis Plant and for the last 9 years at Boss Plant Sales — commented after the presentation, “Dave has always provided a friendly and knowledgeable service to his many customers in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire firstly with Oxford Plant Sales where he started work as a 17-year-old. The Bomag dealership changed hands over the years and Dave spent time working for Dandridge Plant, Gunn Plant Sales, Fenton Plant and Leach Lewis Plant before we established Boss Plant Sales in 2012. We estimate that in his long and illustrious career Dave has sold over 3,000 BOMAG machines starting in 1971 when the BW200 twin-drum roller was ‘state-of-the-art’, a far cry from today’s computer-controlled, low emissions machines.”
