Plant Hire Firm Goes for Growth With New Mandata Cloud TMS Technology

Drivers at haulage firm Millett-Kirkham are seeing the benefits of new cloud transport management technology, following the West Midlands-based company’s investment in Mandata TMS Go!

The Tipton-based specialist, which operates a small fleet of commercial vehicles, delivering access machinery, diggers and other plant hire equipment to national customers, has integrated TMS Go! into frontline operations, rolling-out the system across the business to drive improvements and achieve efficiencies.

Although its early days, the five-strong driver team, which usually works remotely, is already seeing significant improvements in job visibility and the simplified processing of paperwork thanks to the technology’s deployment. The firm’s also benefiting from easier planning and faster pricing of jobs thanks to the system’s capacity to provide rapid access to previous customer orders.

TMS Go! is a system designed for owner/driver and smaller transport operators such as Millett-Kirkham who are looking to cost-effectively benefit from computerised transport management technology but at a fraction of the cost of larger systems. The easy-to-use, ‘out-of-the-box’ subscription-based cloud technology, enables operators to simplify and manage better ‘order-to-invoice’ processes via cost-effective paperless technology.

Co-owner and director Amy Millett-Kirkham Shaw says that she processes between four to ten delivery jobs a day through the system. This is enabling drivers, who can access the technology via smartphones, to see at a glance their daily schedule, note any late changes to planned drops, or file and return paper work while out and about on jobs. She and her team in the transport office also receive instant PODs (Proof of Delivery) thanks to a live feed.

Quick and easy to set-up, TMS Go! is particularly advantageous for operators looking to migrate from paper-based processes to a more sophisticated computerised transport management system. The technology incorporates an intuitive dashboard-style drag-and-drop traffic pad that improves job planning and scheduling, enabling Millett-Kirkham to more effectively plan workloads because drivers can be allocated to vehicles and loads easier.

Amy Shaw added: “TMS Go! is an effective tool for our business. We are constantly looking for smarter, more effective ways to reduce costs, streamline and automate daily processes, and improve overall customer service levels. It’s definitely providing us with increased flexibility, enabling drivers in particular to see what’s happening across the business on a daily basis. This helps us to be far more responsive, driving up quality standards in the process. It’s helping our business to adapt and grow in a very fluid and competitive industry sector.”
