Family run Gloucester-based Ellis Crane Hire Ltd, which took delivery of its first ever Liebherr crane in 2017, has recently taken delivery of a second LTM 1040-2.1 mobile crane.
Ellis Crane Hire’s latest Liebherr fleet addition has been specified with Liebherr’s unique VarioBase system. This coupled with the all-terrain capability provided by having both its axles driven and steerable means the new crane will be especially useful on space-restricted sites. Added to that, a maximum load capacity of 40 tonnes gives it outstanding load carrying performance over the entire operating area and the 35 m long, continuously variable four-section telescopic boom can even perform the telescoping operation under load.
Business owner Simon Ellis, who has also got an LTM 1090-4.2 mobile crane on order from Liebherr for 2019, said of his latest arrival: ‘We were really impressed with the LTM1040-2.1 and in particular the VarioBase® system. I’ve been in the industry for almost 33 years and personally I had to operate the crane and see the VarioBase® riggers at work to believe it! We were able to change the way we looked at some job sites when we realised just how adaptable it is. It soon became apparent that “is the Liebherr free” was heard amongst our hire and planning team on an ever increasing basis, so a second machine was an obvious choice. We’re looking forward to the delivery of our LTM1090-4.2 and maximising its capability and adaptability in the same manner.’
