Keltbray Piling, which is part of Keltbray Group, has won the Contractor of the Year Award at this year’s 2016 Ground Engineering Awards.
At a ceremony at Hilton Park Lane in London, which attracts the biggest names in the industry and is of international interest, Keltbray Piling won the award in stiff competition with seven other strong candidates, including a number of major contractors.
Keltbray was presented with the award after close scrutiny by a panel of expert industry judges, who were very impressed by Keltbray’s 70 per cent growth last year and the company’s expansion since the piling business first launched in 2009.
They described Kelbray’s performance as ‘stellar’, and one judge said: “The company has achieved unprecedented growth achieved through a highly collaborative approach with clients, a non-confrontational approach to business, listening to clients and having a very professional attitude to business in a very competitive market.”
Managing Director of Keltbray Piling, Stuart Norman, said: “We are delighted to have won this major award on the back of our sustained growth, which is very much thanks to a team effort, and has been achieved through collaborative working and technical excellence on contracts, such as the £10 million piling works at Chelsea Barracks, which was delivered on time and on budget.
“Despite our volume of work we continue to deliver safely, maintaining our industry leading RFR and AFR rates and investing in our people, last year delivering 2,600 hours of training ”
One of the judges on the awards panel concluded that Kelbray had “very quickly become a major player in the piling market” and could soon be one of the sector leaders if it continued on the current growth path.
The GE Awards brought together over 700 leaders in consultancy and contracting in the geotechnical engineering industry for a glittering afternoon of celebration, recognition and networking.
Alexandra Wynne, acting editor of GE and deputy editor of New Civil Engineer, commented: “This year’s winners truly demonstrate exceptional engineering excellence. It is a time to focus on how this industry can be nimble, and ready itself to respond as soon as the opportunities arise.
“And all our winners today really do show what the industry is capable of and that it is ready to take on the next challenge.”
