Doosan’s Generators and Compressors

Construction Plant News investigates the latest Doosan generators and compressors to hit the market

Small compressors are aimed at a very wide range of applications in plant hire, construction and general industry, including standard pressure applications such as powering breakers and tools in road repair, demolition and refurbishment.

The portable compressor range from Doosan Portable Power is one of the most comprehensive in the world and now includes an enhanced selection of small high ambient models, complementing the standard range of compressors from the company.

The high ambient range includes the 7/26E HA, 7/31E HA, 7/41 HA and 7/53 HA models, with free air deliveries from 2.5-5.0 m3/min (88-177 cfm) and a rated operating pressure of 7 bar (100 psi).

Like all Doosan compressors, they are built to withstand the rigours of everyday applications in the toughest conditions.

In addition, the units can be equipped with a ‘bunded base’ option for environmental safety, providing a fully contained base to ensure that all operating fluids (fuel, oil and water) stay within the compressor.

For increased versatility and flexibility on site an integral 6 kVA generator, supplies electrical output in addition to compressed air.

The new 7/53 HA portable compressor is the latest addition to the range, replacing the previous 7/51 HA model. The new compressor has been redesigned so that it remains in the Stage IIIA category, avoiding the need to transition to meet Stage IIIB regulations.

The unit supplies 5.0 m3/min (177 cfm) of compressed air and is powered by the 4-cylinder mechanical turbo-charged Yanmar liquid-cooled 4TNV84T-BMDP engine producing 36 kW (49 HP) of power at 2,600 rpm.

Like all the other models in the small compressor range, the compressor can be supplied with a range of running gear options to meet local market requirements.

The running gear can also be replaced with a permanent metal support, typically ordered when the compressor is to be truck-mounted.

The new 7/53 HA compressor offers a reduced size, with a length of 3,389mm in the fixed height, running gear version and a min/max height of 3,520/3,770 mm with adjustable height running gear.

The 7/53 HA model also has a width of 1,432 mm, a height of 1,301 mm and additional new features include integral forklift slots and increased fuel autonomy.

Excellent Serviceability

There’s easy access to all maintenance points, and all areas have been carefully designed for ease of inspection, maintenance and repair.

In addition, all the Korean manufacturer’s small portable compressors have an intuitive, simple key-start sequence, ideal for construction and rental companies because of the reduced risk of machine abuse by untrained operators.

The user-friendly control panel offers an open layout of instruments and warning indicators, whilst a folding lift bail reduces the risk of theft by keeping the lifting eye within the compressor enclosure.

A built-in toolbox compartment also offers ample storage space.

The small compressor range is part of a complete line of portable compressors from Doosan Portable Power comprising 24 different models, with free air deliveries between 2.0 and 45.0 m³/min (70 and 1600 cfm) and operating pressures between 7 and 35 bar (100 and 500 psi).

The modular design ensures that a wide range of optional equipment can be added easily.

New Doosan G400-IIIA and G500-IIIA Generators

From the construction site, to the concert stage, Doosan Portable Power is promising the likes of rental companies, contractors, and civil engineers, the highest reliability, backed by dedicated technical and service support with its new range of generators.

G500-Access-D1The new G400-IIIA (400 kVA prime power) and G500-IIIA (500 kVA prime power) generators meet the EU Stage IIIA engine emission regulations for generators.

As well as incorporating the changes required to meet the Stage IIIA regulations, the new generators have been redesigned to offer increased reliability, high performance and a wider choice of features.

The output performance stability of the generators is ensured by an optimised powertrain featuring a combination of Scania Stage IIIA engines and Leroy Somer alternators.

The use of variable speed radiator fans has improved fuel efficiency, for both the G400-IIIA and G500-IIIA models.

The generators have a standard fuel storage capacity offering a minimum of 10 hours of autonomous operation (at 75% of the load), while a 24-hour on-board fuel tank configuration is available as an option.

The electrical control and power compartment is designed to meet the highest safety, reliability and flexibility requirements.

All control functions are grouped together on a common, simple-to-use operator control panel with easy-to-read analogue gauges.

A digital control panel version, offering extended parameter measurements and historical storage of events and alarms, is available as an option.

Combined with the digital controller, a switchable dual frequency 50/60 Hz feature is also available as an option. The two generator models are EU Stage IIIA emission compliant at both 50 and 60 Hz frequencies.
