GAP’s Charitable Foundation Update

GAP Giving is the GAP Group’s Charitable Foundation which was set up in April 2015 with the primary aim of donating around 0.5 per cent of the company’s profits to charities nominated by staff.

So far in the financial year 2017 / 2018, GAP has donated a total of £61,042 to 70 charities. All of the company’s 1,700+ employees are encouraged to get involved with worthwhile causes and to apply to GAP Giving for support. There are various ways GAP Giving can help:

GAP Match
If staff are participating in a sponsored event, the company has a scheme called GAP Match. GAP will match whatever the employee has raised up to the value of £500. From 1st April 2017, there have been 26 donations totalling £14,542 made via GAP Match. GAP’s employees have been involved in various events including coffee mornings, skydives, football matches and triathlons.

Donation
Any GAP employee can nominate a charity they feel is deserving or may have helped themselves, family or friends in the past. This year there have been 18 donations made following applications from employees. The GAP Giving Committee which includes members of staff from a variety of roles at GAP, meet monthly to consider all requests including local, national and international charities.

Charities of the Month
GAP has eight divisions specialising in equipment hire and over 140 locations throughout the UK.  Every year, each region, division and head office department is given the opportunity to choose a charity to receive a donation of £1,000. GAP Giving has donated to 38 charities via the Charity of the Month scheme or a special donation via the GAP Giving Committee. An example of some of the charities who received a £1,000 donation this year include London Air Ambulance, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and The Fire Fighters Charity. To date, £18,000 has been donated this year.
