Hillhead 2022 | CPN Exclusive Preview

Following a four year hiatus, Hillhead returns to its established and unique Buxton quarry home from 21 – 23RD June 2022.

Over 600 exhibitors will be showcasing the industry’s latest solutions through a mix of static displays and live demonstrations.

This major quarrying, construction and recycling event, gives manufacturers the chance to reveal some of the most advanced plant, equipment and services available today. Over the next few pages Construction Plant News is providing a preview of some of the exhibition highlights. 

Bobcat

The R-Series telehandler range, R2-Series of mini-excavators and the L85 are amongst the Bobcat solutions on show at Buxton. The manufacturer’s stand will also feature the company’s E10e, the world’s first battery-powered 1 tonne mini-excavator, with zero emissions, low noise and a width of just 71 cm. 

CASE Construction Equipment

Visitors to Hilhead can explore CASE Construction Equipment’s E-Series crawler excavators, the SV-Series backhoe loader, the G-Series wheel loader and the new D-Series Mini-Excavator range, including an electric machine. The static displays are complemented by a CX300E crawler-excavator working in the quarry. 

Doosan 

Experience the latest versions of Doosan’s large crawler excavators from 36 to 53 tonne, the next generation of mini-excavators, the new DX100W-7 10 tonne wheeled excavator and a new range of compact wheel loaders on the Korean manufacturer’s stand. The latter consists of five models all manufactured by Tobroco-Giant.

Enerpac

Announcements on new cutting and pulling tools and load skates will be made by Enerpac at this year’s Hillhead. Torque wrenches, compact and high tonnage cylinders, hydraulic pumps and flange spreading tools will also feature. Designed for quarrying equipment maintenance and repair, the tools are easy to use and will reduce downtime. 


Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe

Headlining for Hyundai is the HX480AL 48-tonne crawler excavator, which makes its first UK public appearance and will be at work in the demonstration area. The manufacturer’s stand will play host to its heavy-duty wheeled loader, wheeled excavator and crawler excavator ranges – including the latest A Series models.

Liebherr

The extensive quarry equipment portfolio from Liebherr is spearheaded by the award-winning, 28-tonne payload TA 230 articulated dump truck, which has won praise for its design and engineering features. Elsewhere, the comprehensive collection showcases wheeled loaders, dozers and excavators as well as concrete batching and mixing equipment.

SMT GB

Many of the SMT GB machines showcased are making their debut in Great Britain, including the EWR130E wheeled excavator, the EW200E material handler, EC530E excavator and EC300E Hybrid excavator. The latter delivers the performance of an equivalent conventional machine, but with up to 17 per cent potential fuel efficiency.

Yanmar Compact Equipment

Stand V3 is the setting for the 1,700kg, Stage V SV17VT, the B95W wheeled excavator and the compact zero tail-swing ViO82 midi excavator from Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA. That’s complemented by the V120 wheel loader and a C50R-5A tracked carrier that can carry loads of up to 3,800kg. 

Mecalac Construction Equipment UK

Taking centre stage for Mecalac Construction Equipment UK will be the MDX cabbed site dumper, TLB backhoe loaders, MWR wheeled excavator suite, AX articulated loader and MCR crawler-skid excavator collections. The ‘rental-favourite’ MBR-71 single drum pedestrian roller will complete the line-up.


Takeuchi

Takeuchi arrive at this year’s Hillhead with a wide selection of machines launched in the last four years, including its newest generation 3-Series excavators and 7-tonne TB370. On the smaller side the new 3-Series TB325R meets the growing demand for short tail excavators and there’s the chance to see the TCR50-2 tracked dumper.

Worsley Plant

This hydraulic attachments specialist’s recent expansion is reflected in the latest Crushing and Screening Buckets, as well as Drum Cutters from MB. Also available from Worsley Plant, the Remu Crossover Bucket (XO) is a screening bucket which features one bucket frame with multiple work modules, enabling a quick transition between different jobs.

Hitachi Construction Machinery UK

Hill Engineering 

The Northern Ireland-based specialist’s Tefra and Titan ranges will be at the show including the fully automatic Tefra Tilt hitch. The Hill Engineering solution combines the award-winning Tefra coupler and the HKS extra-tilt power actuator to offer tilt options up to 180° on all models. It is available to fit excavator sizes from 3 tonne up to 20 tonnes.

Point of Rental

At Hillhead attendees can learn how to cut paper waste with Syrinx. Point of Rental’s software provides apps, digital signatures, digital inspections, route planning – there’s really no need for paper anymore. “Paperwork” is even filed digitally, so the documents you need are only a few keystrokes away.

Red Knight 6

One of the lead machines on the RK6 stand will be the Krokodile shredder. Weighing 14 tonnes, this compact twin shaft shredder is capable of producing up to 200 tonnes per hour. The Nordmann T-750 19 tonnes jaw crusher, comes with a 700 x 500 jaw and a diesel over electric power source, and can be ready to get to work just 10 minutes after being unloaded. 

Sitech

Trimble Technology partner, SITECH, will be taking prime position at the quarry event. There it will demonstrate how connected technology increases visibility and control of process flows during the design and construction phase of projects and ultimately enables contractors to operate their sites more efficiently and economically.

BPH Attachments

There’s a wide range of brands in the BPH Attachments portfolio. The company is the exclusive importer of PRODEM attachments, and the exclusive UK and Ireland dealer for the US-manufactured LaBounty Shears. The hydraulic attachments expert also supplied OilQuick Couplers, Dynaset Magnets, Auger Torque Augers and Berti Flails and Mulchers.

Brigade Electronics

The very latest in RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology from Brigade Electronics will be on show at Hillhead. ZoneSafe uses vehicle-mounted antennas that communicate with detection tags, which can be worn by workers, set up in restricted areas or placed on objects or property. When a tag enters a detection zone, the vehicle operator will automatically receive a visual and audible alert.

EvoQuip

EvoQuip will display a brand-new Falcon 820 screen and run live working demonstrations of a Cobra 230R impact crusher. Barry O’Hare, Product Line Director, said: “It has been a long time without shows and the EvoQuip team are excited to meet new and existing customers and showcase our products.”

Komatsu

The fuel efficient WA475-10 wheel loader with Komatsu hydraulic mechanical transmission is amongst the line-up, as well as the HB365LC-3 hybrid excavator that offers average fuel and CO2 savings of 20 per cent compared to a conventional excavator. Also on show is the WA480-8 wheel loader, hydrostatic drive D71PXi-24 bulldozer, and HM-300 ADT.

Barrus

Barrus partners with two of the world’s leading engine manufacturers, Yanmar and John Deere who understand the exacting demands of original equipment manufacturers for high quality, performance, durability and reliability. Both engine brands will be represented at this year’s Hillhead on the Barrus Stand G15.

Sany UK & Ireland

This 16T Sany SY155W wheeled excavator has been in Europe for two years but has been upgraded with rear stabilisers and a front dozer blade to suit the UK market. Other machines on show will include the SY215C, the hugely popular SY80U and the SY26U and SY18C from SANY’s range of mini excavators.

Isuzu Truck (UK)

Visitors to Hillhead can meet the Isuzu Truck (UK) team on Stand A21. The company supplies a full range of trucks from 3.5T to 13.5T comprising of chassis cabs with wheelbases to suit a vast array of requirements. All vehicles are supplied with a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and Isuzu 24/7, 365 Roadside Assist as standard. Applications and industries include haulage, building & construction, forestry, vehicle recovery, waste management and recycling.
