JCB 1.5 Digger recovered by AMI after manufacturers telematics ripped out

Every year AMI Group sees a large demand for battery-operated solutions which are then utilised alongside manufacturers telematics solutions to aid in the recovery of stolen assets. In recent months there has been an increase in theft where the manufacturers telematics system has been ripped out and the AMI battery unit has aided in the find of the stolen assets.

One example is a JCB 1.5 mini digger that was stolen from a site in Exeter and recovered by the AMI recovery team in Plymouth after the manufacturers telematics systems installed was ripped from the machine.

The asset was protected by the AT4, once the client informed AMI of the theft the unit was placed into finder mode and a GPS signal was received.

With assistance from the Devon and Cornwall police the AMI recovery team located the digger in a builder’s yard along with other stolen equipment, not only returning AMI s customer’s machine but returning other stolen equipment to their rightful owner. This shows the importance of having your assets tracked.

The AT4 nicknamed ‘The Rock’ is a small battery-powered device encapsulated in resin for ultimate protection. Making it ideal for construction and machinery equipment or any assets exposed to the elements, once installed customers have access to the AMI Nexis web-based interface, iOS and Android app allowing complete control and visibility of equipment.
