Milk & More strikes deal with LDV to become one of the UK’s biggest electric fleet operators

The country’s largest doorstep delivery service, Milk & More, is set to become one of the largest operators of electric vehicle (EV) vans in the UK following a significant investment in manufacturer LDV’s flagship EV, the EV80.

Milk & More is rolling out 159 zero-emission vans from LDV UK & Ireland, taking its fleet of electric vehicles to just over 500, by the end of September 2019.

Owned by SAIC Maxus and distributed in the London area by Heathrow LDV, the EV80 fleet of new electric vehicles is the latest example of Milk & More’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.

The EV80 boasts a 120-mile range on a single charge and, thanks to its high-capacity lithium battery, can be fully charged in less than 90 minutes.

The van model is the first fully-electric vehicle launched as part of Heathrow LDV’s range of commercial vehicles and will be used to deliver milk in glass bottles, as well as over 200 daily essentials to people’s doorsteps in time for breakfast.

The EV80, which is Ultra Low Emission Zone compliant and designed for urban driving, will ensure that Milk & More not only reduces its emissions, but also helps to prevent noise during early-morning deliveries.

Andrew Kendall, Deputy CEO for Milk & More, said: “We are proud to have one of the largest fleets of electric vehicles in the country. Our new LDV electric vehicles represent our commitment to transforming the great British milkman into a modern, convenient delivery service which has a sustainable, environmentally friendly proposition at its heart.”

Mark Barrett, General Manager of LDV UK & Ireland said of the deal: “Doorstep milk delivery is seeing a revival as people look to be more sustainable by buying their milk in reusable glass bottles.

“Milk & More is a company that prides itself on looking to the future and creating a greener business model.

“As such, the brand’s ethos is in line with LDV’s vision for the future and we are thrilled to be able to provide Milk & More with a fleet of EV80s, which will help to future-proof our business.”

The investment in 159 EV80 vans by Milk & More is the latest in a string of deals secured by LDV.

Market-leading companies including Unitmovements Ltd, Royal Mail and Nottingham City Council have also invested in the model in recent months, a testament to van’s power, range, and value-for-money.
